Struggling with the gap between our reality and my ideal family

30/07/2026

Seeing other families around us thriving, I couldn’t accept my child’s school avoidance and kept asking myself, “Why us?” This led to constant clashes with my husband. Whenever our responses as parents lacked consistency, my daughter’s condition deteriorated, leaving the atmosphere at home icy and tense.

What truly struck me during ToCo’s support program was the importance of “aligning as a couple and resetting the home environment,” even before focusing on how we talked to our child.

Thanks to the clear logic they provided on how to interact with her, my stubborn husband finally understood, allowing us to unite as a team.

Once we as parents became an unwavering foundation, our daughter felt safe enough to face her own future again. Today, she is attending school with a smile, just like before.

I am deeply grateful to ToCo for helping us reclaim our family bond.

I was panicking because I was too focused on what others thought of us.

Even simply going out with my child on a weekday afternoon filled me with guilt, and my mind was completely consumed by how the neighbors and other mothers might view us.

Through ToCo’s support program, I came to realize the importance of focusing on my child’s feelings and future rather than societal expectations. Once I, as a parent, stopped acting secretive and began interacting with him in a calm, grounded manner, the tension at home gradually eased.

My son was then able to slowly reflect on whether he was truly comfortable with his current life and what kind of school experience he actually wanted. While transferring was an option, he ultimately decided to return to his original school.

I am deeply grateful for learning how crucial it is to establish a strong, steady household anchor for a teenager during such a sensitive stage of life.

Much of the cause was me.

ToCo’s re-entry program was an eye-opener for me.

I realized that the reason she stopped going to school was indeed a bad experience at school, but that the reason for her continued absence was the reversal of her day and night schedule and the over-indulgent home environment.

My daughter wanted to go to school, but she didn’t know how to motivate herself to do so or how to change her current lifestyle, and the main reason was that I myself had been keeping her away from conversations.

Fortunately, the program carefully taught me how to change my environment and how to treat my children, so I had no trouble putting it into practice. I only needed to change my life and the courage to change myself.

The truancy that lasted two months was resolved within a week. Today, my daughter heads off to school with a smile on her face.

Thank you very much, including the person in charge who supported us.
